Radical Man is one of several orange and white cats that appear at Huanzi Animal Rescue Base. His name comes from a radical[1], a component of Chinese characters, that translates in English to "Radical Man[2]". The radical, 人 (spelled "rén" in Pinyin), looks like the white streaks that appear on Radical Man's face. Radical Man was first sighted by the global community on July 14, 2024.
Behavior
Despite his name, Radical Man is a very relaxed cat. He can often be seen lounging in or near the feeder for long periods of time. When he lays in the feeder, he often takes up most of the space in the feeder, requiring cats who want to eat to stand on the side of the feeder and reach up to the bowl from there. Radical Man can relax in the feeder for a very long time. When he wants food, but there isn't any, he is very patient and will wait for a long while before giving up on the prospect of food. Radical Man has not been seen having problems with any other cats at the feeder.
Appearance
Radical Man is an orange and white cat. He looks similar in many ways to other orange and white cats like Mr. Socks and Mr. Swirly. His main defining feature is the two intersecting white streaks on his face that look the Chinese radical 人. Beyond this, there is not much that separates him from other similar-looking cats at the feeder. His back is fully orange with tabby stripes. On one side, the separation between his orange and white fur is nearly a straight line; on the other side, the line between them is very wavy. His paws are white, and the white coloration only extends up a little past his paws.
Sightings
July 2024
- July 14, 2024: At 2:11 PM (LFT), Radical Man entered the feeder. He sat in the feeder and waited for food to be dispensed. At 2:17, kibble was dropped, and Radical Man started eating. When all the kibble was gone, he laid down in loaf formation and waited for more food. No more food was dropped; he left at 2:27.
- July 16, 2024: At 9:22 AM (LFT), Radical Man entered the feeder. He laid down and watched the empty food bowl. Around 9:37, a good amount of food was dropped, and Radical Man started eating. He left at 9:40.
- July 17, 2024:
- At 6:39 AM (LFT), Radical Man was seen eating at the feeder while Cool Whip laid down in the back. When he was finished eating, he sat up and looked at the bowl for a second. He left at 6:46.
- At 11:37 AM (LFT), Radical Man entered the feeder and laid down, taking up much of the space in the feeder. Over the course of the next hour, many cats came to eat, having to choose between trying to stand in the feeder or eating from the bowl while standing off to the side. Radical Man eventually fell fully asleep and slept in many funny poses. He left at around 12:40.
- July 18, 2024: At 8:47 AM (LFT), Radical Man entered the feeder while another cat was eating. He laid down and watched the other cat eat. When the other cat left, Radical Man started eating from the feeder himself. He left at 8:56.
- July 19, 2024:
- At 2:32 AM (LFT), Radical Man was seen sitting in the feeder. Soon after, he laid down against the back of the feeder. Ms. Stubbs entered the feeder and ate, and Radical Man lazily watched her. Radical Man left at 2:36, after Ms. Stubbs.
- At 5:22 AM (LFT), Radical Man was seen eating at the feeder. He ate with his face very close to the camera. He left around 5:30.
- July 21, 2024:
- At 7:39 PM (LFT), Radical Man was seen lounging inside the feeder. Cool Whip soon entered and started eating; Radical Man left shortly after.
- At 11:33 PM (LFT), Radical Man was seen sleeping peacefully inside the feeder. A few minutes later, he woke up and started eating. While he ate, Mr. Swirly entered the feeder and watched him. After he ate, he sat up very tall and looked around for a minute. At 11:47, he left the feeder and laid down on the ground next to it, looking out the window.
- July 22, 2024: At 11:01 PM (LFT), Radical Man showed up to the feeder while Azula was eating the food that was dropped for her. He looked inside the feeder, but Azula gave him a stern look, so he backed off a little bit. When Azula left a minute later, he entered the feeder and began eating. At 11:04, a tux scared him out of the feeder.
