Fried Rice Brother (炒饭哥) is a popular cat who used to visit Big Man's Cat Houses. He amassed a small fame in China after he was recorded digging through the food bowl when he was caught in a TNR trap. The Chinese community named him after his talented gift of tossing fried rice (digging food).
Fried Rice Brother was initially released but later adopted after his viral video.
Behavior
Fried Rice Brother is friendly with cats; he was frequently seen eating with Aziraphale and Crowley. He was very calm and was not startled by loud noises as much as the other cats. Stress caused by the TNR trap is what caused him to dig through the feeder bowl in his famous video.
There is a large gap in his sightings, likely due to the large amount of kittens that took over the feeder between April and May.
Appearance
Fried Rice Brother is fully black with bright yellow eyes. His fur is short and shiny. Despite his adoption, he is the only fully black cat documented at this feeder.
Sightings
April 2024
- April 2, 2024: At around 10 PM (LFT), Fried Rice Brother came to eat, unknowing that there was a TNR trap set for him. It closed on him and he panicked, eventually forcing him to try and find an escape through the food bowl. He dug through a large amount of food, but unfortunately, he did not find an escape. He stayed in there for over an hour, eventually calming down before he was maneuvered into the cat bag. They later transferred him to a cage.
- April 6, 2024: Fried Rice Brother visited the feeder with Aziraphale and Crowley. Unfortunately, there were no extra bowls of food, so while Fried Rice Brother and Crowley ate Aziraphale had to wait at the back as there was no space. Later, the two cats sat off to the side and allowed Aziraphale to have their fill.
- April 20, 2024:
- Fried Rice Brother was eating at the feeder bowl beside Crowley when they heard a loud noise, making them look up shocked. Aziraphale was behind them making a similar expression.
- April 20, 2024: At night, Fried Rice Brother ate from a small bowl while Aziraphale ate beside him and Crowley behind him at the feeder bowl.
May 2024
- May 23, 2024: Fried Rice Brother ate from the feeder bowl while Aziraphale and Crowley ate from another bowl behind him. This is Fried Rice Brother's last recorded sighting, as he was adopted shortly after.
