Kenneth
Kenneth is a cat that appears at A Litter of Cats Who Love Each Other. He is one of several brown tabbies that have visited the feeder. He can be told apart from the others by his large size and his interestingly calm, Rob-like facial expressions. He was first sighted by the global community on January 7, 2025.
Behavior
Kenneth is a dominating cat. He regularly causes cats to flee from the feeder, although he is not as aggressive with his advances as Serif and Maurice are. He also regularly marks his territory on the feeder. While he clashes with most other cats at the feeder, he has a more complex relationship with Cob and her kittens, Hudson and Reid. He is not as aggressive around them (although he will still mark his territory in their presence), and the family doesn't seem to be as scared of him as most other cats are. On two occasions, Cob let him enter the feeder and eat while her kittens were sitting inside. Both times, the kittens watched him somewhat nervously, but they did not act in any kind of way towards him.
Although he has had a number of altercations with other cats, he's actually normally seen at the feeder alone. When he is alone, he enjoys relaxing and taking naps, often while sitting up. He is willing to wait for long periods of time for food to drop, and is not remotely fazed by other cats approaching the feeder wanting to eat. He eats both snacks and kibble, and he is a big eater; one time, he ate 70 grams of kibble from the bowl all at once, then sat back and waited for more.
Appearance
Kenneth is a brown tabby. From the front, he looks quite a bit like Brutus, due to their similar coat pattern and the similar-looking dark stripes going down their noses. Brutus's nose stripe, however, is darker and more bold than Kenneth's, and her coat color is more gray, while Kenneth's coat is a warmer shade of brown. They also have very different back patterns, as Brutus has some tortoiseshell coloring on her back and Kenneth is just a brown tabby. Brutus is a little smaller, and tends to have more grumpy facial expressions, while Kenneth is very large and makes kinder, somewhat Rob-like faces.
Sightings
January 2025
- January 7, 2025: Around 7:40 AM (LFT), Kenneth was seen for the first time. He was standing outside the feeder but reaching his head in and sniffing the chicken snacks in the bowl. When kibble was dropped, he got startled and pulled his head out, but entered the feeder and began eating a second later. When chicken snacks were dropped, he pulled his head back out of the bowl in shock and stared wide-eyed at the bowl for a few seconds before eating again.
- January 22, 2025: Around 2:45 AM (LFT), Kenneth was seen eating kibble. He looked outside for a moment, then resumed eating.
- January 27, 2025: Around 1:00 AM (LFT), Kenneth was seen for the first time after the insulating tarp was installed. He laid in front of the bowl, waiting for food. When kibble was dropped, he began to eat, but as more and more food was dropped, he stopped and stared up at the dispenser in awe. After getting over his shock, he ate the kibble and snacks.
February 2025
- February 3, 2025: Around 2:25 PM (LFT), Kenneth was seen sitting in front of the empty bowl. He closed his eyes and relaxed happily as he waited for food. Around 1:30, while he was still there, Dame Knight appeared at the feeder and laid down outside.
- February 11, 2025:
- Around 12:45 AM (LFT), Kenneth was seen sitting in front of the mostly-empty bowl. After a few minutes, he laid down, made a variety of Rob-like faces, then closed his eyes.
- Around 7:45 AM (LFT), Kenneth was seen sitting tall in front of the bowl. When he tilted his head down, he was seen to be closing his eyes.
- February 15, 2025: Around 8:05 AM (LFT), Kenneth entered the feeder while Hudson was laying inside and Cob and Reid were in the gap between the feeder and the wall. Cob walked around to the other side of the feeder and sniffed Kenneth's tail, which was sticking out of the tarp. Cob walked back to the gap, then slowly entered the feeder. Cob then stood over Hudson, who was still sleeping, to protect her, but Cob did not get aggressive with Kenneth or try to kick him out, and Kenneth never even acknowledged Hudson's or Cob's presence. When he was finished eating, he left the feeder, sticking his butt in Cob's face while doing so (though this was unavoidable, as there was barely room for the three cats in the feeder anyways).
- February 16, 2025: Around 7:10 AM (LFT), Kenneth again entered the feeder and began eating while Hudson was laying inside and Reid sat behind her, resting his arm on her back. This time, Kenneth did turn around to look at the kittens for a second, but then just resumed eating. Cob was laying in the gap between the feeder and the wall, and did not react to Kenneth's presence, indicating that Cob was okay with Kenneth being around her kids. After Kenneth finished eating, he simply left again.
- February 18, 2025: Around 8:00 PM (LFT), Kenneth was seen sitting in front of the empty bowl.
- February 19, 2025: Around 6:20 PM (LFT), Kenneth was seen sitting in front of the empty bowl. His fur looked somewhat disheveled. After about 20 minutes, he laid down and closed his eyes.
- February 20, 2025: Around 6:20 PM (LFT), Kenneth was seen sleeping in front of the empty bowl.
- February 24, 2025: Around 9:50 PM (LFT), Kenneth was seen sitting in front of the empty bowl. He left about five minutes later, marking his territory on the bowl on the way out.
- February 26, 2025:
- Around 6:10 PM (LFT), Kenneth was seen laying in front of the empty bowl, which had some snacks and kibble inside. He hung out in the feeder for almost an hour and a half; around 7:50, the new gray tabby kitten appeared, and Kenneth left.
- Around 9:05 PM (LFT), Kenneth approached the feeder while Hubert was inside. Hubert hissed at him aggressively, then ran out of the feeder. About thirty seconds later, Kenneth entered the feeder to eat. After enjoying some kibble, he laid down in front of the feeder and closed his eyes.
March 2025
- March 6, 2025: Around 6:25 PM (LFT), Kenneth was seen sitting in front of the almost-empty bowl. From the top camera, he was seen to have a large amount of kibble on top of his head.
- March 8, 2025: Around 10:20 PM (LFT), Kenneth approached the feeder while Cob, Hudson and Reid were eating inside. Kenneth watched them for a minute, then turned around, marked his territory on the tarp, and left.
- March 11, 2025: Around 9:50 PM (LFT), Kenneth was seen sitting in the freshly cleaned feeder, seeming very happy. After a few minutes, he laid down.
