Mr. Quartz is a brown tabby that appears at Huanzi Animal Rescue Base. His name comes from the fact that, at first glance, he looks similar to Mr. Diamond; however, Mr. Quartz is a more common sight at the feeder. It was first thought that Mr. Quartz and Mr. Citrine were the same cat, as they are both mostly brown tabbies with a white triangle on their face, but they can be told apart by their different triangle shapes and front paw colors. Mr. Quartz was first seen by the global community on July 16, 2024.

Behavior

Mr. Quartz enjoys lounging for long periods of time in the feeder. He lays toward the back of the feeder and watches as many different cats come in and out of the feeder. In addition to laying in the feeder, he is known to hang out outside the feeder and watch cats as well. He is typically quite calm. When a cat almost sat on him, he didn't show any sign of being bothered.

However, Mr. Quartz can also have an attitude- he was seen fighting Huo back from the feeder, and Mr. Socks a while later, though the latter may have been due to the presence of chicken snacks, and Mr. Socks' tendency to take them all.

Appearance

Unlike many of the tabbies at this feeder, Mr. Quartz does not have a lot of white fur. It is partly because of this that he looks so similar to Mr. Diamond and Mr. Citrine. Both Mr. Quartz and Mr. Citrine have triangle-shaped patches over their nose; however, Mr. Quartz's triangle is more of a half triangle that doesn't extend to the right side of his face, while Mr. Citrine's triangle is a full triangle that straddles both sides of his nose. Mr. Quartz and Mr. Citrine can also be told apart by their different front paw colors. Mr. Citrine's front paws are fully white, and the white extends a little above his paws; only Mr. Quartz's front toes are white, and the rest of his front paws are brown.

Sightings

July 2024

July 16, 2024:

• At 2:12 AM (LFT), Mr. Quartz entered the feeder while Cousin Chill was chilling off to the side. He stared at the food bowl, but did not eat; he left a minute later. At 2:22, he walked back over to the feeder and sat outside of it. He watched various cats go in and out of the feeder until he left at 2:26.
• At 9:58 AM (LFT), Mr. Quartz entered the feeder while an unnamed tux was eating. He laid down at the back of the feeder and watched various cats go in and out of the feeder until deciding to eat himself at 10:03. He left when he was finished eating.

July 18, 2024:

• At 8:02 AM (LFT), Mr. Quartz was seen laying along the back wall of the feeder. He watched several cats come in and out of the feeder. He left at 8:09.
• At 9:29 AM (LFT), Mr. Quartz was again seen lying in the back of the feeder, watching cats eat. A fluffy orange cat almost sat on Mr. Quartz, but Mr. Quartz didn’t seem to mind. Mr. Quartz relaxed for a very long time; he didn’t leave until 11:19.

July 19, 2024:

• At 12:50 PM (LFT), Mr. Quartz was seen relaxing in the feeder. A minute later, kibble was dropped for him. When he heard the kibble dropping, he left the feeder.

January 2025

January 21, 2025:

• At around 7:10 PM (LFT) the feeder was refilled, and Mr. Battlescar ate for a few minutes, observed by Mrs. Decade. When he was done, Huo attempted to enter, but was confronted by Mr. Quartz, who smacked Huo, sat his paw on Huo's head for around 30 seconds, and then smacked him again.
